Free Trial Lesson →Mirco Lieber, MMag., is a trained concert accordionist — one of the few online teachers worldwide qualified to teach this instrument at a professional level. He holds a dual-subject Master's degree (MMag.) from the MDW University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Academy of Music Ljubljana, with specialisations in concert accordion, harpsichord, organ, and piano.
With over 30 years of teaching experience, Mirco has developed a method that adapts to each student's instrument, level, and goals — whether you are picking up an accordion for the first time or preparing for a competition.
Most competitors do not teach accordion at all. This makes Mirco's offering unique: you learn directly from a concert accordionist who knows the instrument inside out — from bellows articulation to the subtleties of Stradella bass voicing.
Every lesson is tailored to your instrument and your musical interests. The core curriculum covers the technical foundations that make the accordion such a uniquely expressive instrument:
Mirco Lieber teaches adults and children ages 7 and up, from absolute beginners to advanced players seeking specialised coaching. You do not need to own an accordion before your first lesson — early sessions can focus on posture, bellows fundamentals, and chord theory using a borrowed instrument while Mirco advises you on choosing your own.
Pianists who want to transfer their existing keyboard and music-theory knowledge to accordion progress especially quickly: note reading, right-hand technique, and chord knowledge carry over directly. The main new skills — bellows control and the Stradella left-hand layout — are taught from the ground up.
Accordion lessons are available as structured video courses (self-paced) or as personalised 1-on-1 coaching via live Zoom sessions. Students from the US, UK, Canada, and Australia are warmly welcome — time zones are accommodated.
All lessons take place live via Zoom. There is no app to install and no platform switching — just you, your accordion, and your teacher in real time. Position your webcam to show both hands and the bellows, and Mirco provides instant feedback exactly as he would in person.
Every session is recorded, and you receive practice notes afterward so you can review bellows details and fingering at your own pace. Lessons run on a flexible schedule that accommodates students from different time zones — including the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.
Absolutely. Mirco Lieber teaches complete beginners with no prior accordion experience. Lessons start with posture, bellows technique, and the basics of treble and bass button layouts. You do not need to own an accordion before your first lesson — early sessions can use a borrowed instrument while Mirco advises you on choosing your own.
A piano accordion uses a right-hand keyboard identical to a piano, making it the natural choice for pianists. A button (chromatic) accordion uses rows of compact buttons instead — favoured in folk and tango traditions for its speed and wide intervals. Mirco Lieber teaches both and will help you choose based on your background and musical goals.
Mirco Lieber teaches a broad range: Austrian and Central European folk music, French musette, Argentine tango, classical works (including Baroque arrangements such as J.S. Bach), and Oberkrainer style. Repertoire is chosen around your personal interests rather than a fixed syllabus.
All lessons take place live via Zoom. Your webcam should be angled to show both hands and the bellows. Each session is recorded and followed up with practice notes. No app to install, no platform switching — just you, your accordion, and your teacher in real time. Lessons run on a flexible schedule to suit your time zone.
Mirco Lieber welcomes students of all ages. Adults (complete beginners through to advanced players) and children aged 7 and up are taught with the same methodical approach, adapted to their individual learning pace and goals. Students from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and worldwide are welcome.
