Training (concert major)

Mirco Lieber, MMag., studied concert accordion at the Academy of Music Ljubljana and concert harpsichord at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), two complete concert-major Master's degrees. At MDW he also studied organ. He is one of the few online teachers worldwide who teach both accordion and harpsichord at concert level.

Live via Zoom, 1-on-1. You set up camera and instrument so your hand position is visible. The teacher corrects bellows control, fingers, and posture in real time, exactly what no app and no YouTube video can do. Between lessons you receive structured exercises that build on each other.

USD 168), ML-SERIOUS is EUR 189 per month for 6 months (approx. USD 219) and ML-AMBITIOUS is EUR 229 per month for 6 months (approx. USD 265), plus a one-time joining fee of EUR 5. Single lessons without a package cost EUR 32 (30 min), EUR 42 (45 min) or EUR 56 (60 min) with no joining fee. Prices include 16% VAT and are billed in EUR; USD amounts are approximate.

Should I choose a piano accordion or a button accordion?

Both systems exist. A piano accordion has a piano-style keyboard for the right hand, which feels familiar if you already play piano or keyboard. A button accordion uses rows of buttons instead and is common in folk and tango traditions.
