Why do adults often learn faster than children?

It sounds counterintuitive, but adults often progress faster than children through the first year of piano lessons. The reasons are straightforward.

Adults bring self-discipline and the ability to focus on a single problem for sustained minutes. A child depends on external motivation; an adult arrives with an internal drive that makes every practice session count. Adults also understand music theory as a system, intervals, chord functions, key relationships, rather than memorising isolated facts. That conceptual grasp accelerates everything that follows.

The question is never "can I learn at my age?", it's "do I have 15 minutes a day and the right guidance?"

Why live Zoom lessons, not a rigid app?

The biggest difference between my approach and the mainstream piano apps is simple: I can see you and hear you. During a Zoom lesson, I watch your hand position, finger curvature, wrist tension, and posture in real time. I can say "relax your thumb" at the exact moment your thumb tenses. An app never catches that, and unreleased tension is the number-one reason adult beginners stall and quit.

Each session takes place at a scheduled time that works for your time zone. I record every lesson so you can rewatch it. There is no platform switching, we meet on Zoom, I share my screen for sheet music and exercises, and you play. That's it.

A Personal Curriculum, No One-Size-Fits-All

You don't need to navigate a bloated app interface or skip between YouTube tutorials. Your curriculum is designed around your goals, your pace, and the music you actually want to play, whether that's classical, pop, jazz, film scores, or all of the above. I adapt the material to your taste and adjust as you progress.

Lead Sheets, Chord Progressions & Improvisation, Open to Any Repertoire

This is the foundation of my teaching style. Rather than working through a fixed method book page by page, I teach you to read lead sheets and Real Books, understand chord progressions, and develop improvisation skills from day one, whether on piano, keyboard, or any other instrument.

I am open to any repertoire you love: blues, jazz, pop, film music, modern harmony, Latin, folk, classical sonatas, or your own compositions. You bring the music you want to play; I show you how to play it, how to interpret it, and how to make it your own.
